The only camp that is good enough to eat: Cooking is Science is the place to be this summer for students who like to play with their food! Come experience the delicious collision of culinary chemistry, and discover the science behind some of your favorite dishes. Feed your stomach, and your curiosity like never before in our kitchen lab, and release your inner master-chef-madscientist!
This course is a broad foundational introduction to the discipline of computer science through the Java programming language. Students will learn the basics of Java with an “objects first” approach to programming and problem solving. Students will become acquainted with both primitive and reference types and use them to write programs involving logical arguments such as boolean expressions and loops. Emphasis will be placed on event-driven programming methods, including creating and manipulating objects and classes. No prior programming experience is required. This course prepares students well for the AP Computer Science A course. Taking this class in the summer will fulfill a student’s graduation requirement in Computer Science.
